Send the details and we will come and look at it. A survey costs nothing, there is no obligation attached to it, and if a rooflight is leaking now it is worth saying so, because that moves you up the list rather than into a queue.

Send three things

A photograph from inside the room. A photograph of the rooflight from outside, if you can take one safely from a window or the garden. And a note of when the problem shows itself.

That last one decides more than the photographs do. Water appearing in cold weather with no rain is condensation, and water appearing during driving rain is a leak. They are different faults needing different work, and how to tell them apart is on is it condensation or a leak.

Please do not climb on the roof

No photograph is worth standing on a covering that may not take your weight, and an aged rooflight gives no warning at all before it goes. A picture from a window is enough.

What happens next

A conversation first. A fair number of enquiries end with a suggestion that costs nothing, because the answer turns out to be a blocked drainage channel, a gasket, or an extract fan venting into a loft. Where a survey is needed we say what we will be looking at and roughly how long we will be.
